Salesbury Hall Farm

The creation of a large woodland at Salesbury Hall Farm is part of Ribble Rivers Trust’s (RRT), 10 year Lancashire Woodland Connect campaign. Over ten years they hope to create 100 kilometres of new or restored woodland along the River Ribble and nearby rivers for the benefit of communities and the environment across the county. We are proud to be one of a number of charities and community groups involved with this project.
Salesbury Hall Farm was once a dairy farm with a gravel works, and the estate extends over roughly 350 acres, right down to the banks of the River Ribble itself. There are quite a few work buildings onsite but much of the land has been unused for over twenty years making it is a perfect place to plant a large woodland.
Around 25,000 trees purchased by the River Ribble Trust were due to be planted on this farm, and we were asked to plant 7,485 of them in an 11 acre area. Deer fencing erected around the site will give the saplings the the best chance of survival.
