Landscape view of Kilkenny Farm

Kilkenny Farm is a working farm close to Leachbrook Covert and Leachbrook Copse. The landowner was eager to have more trees on his farm and had already had help to plant some small areas of woodland. We were asked to plant a shelterbelt on their land to act as a windbreak to protect their livestock and crops. It would also improve biodiversity in a rather open area with few trees, and link the nearby woodlands.

Working in collaboration with our friends at The Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, (FWAG South West) who provide most of the volunteers we planted 1138 trees and shrubs to form a shelterbelt on this rather exposed property. In addition to providing a much needed windbreak, the shelterbelt will provide vital wildlife habitat and movement corridors through the landscape.
